Two Littleton District Robotics Teams Heading To State Competition
On December 2, 2017, at Carl Hayden Community High School, two teams from the Littleton Elementary School District #65 went to the regionals for the First Lego League (FLL) robotics. These two teams qualified for the state tournament at Arizona State University. The two teams are The Gifters from Country Place Leadership Academy and the #allLEGOS from Collier Elementary School.
The Gifters are all eighth graders and won the regional grand champion award for the second year in a row. This team, only being three years old, has made tremendous progress in the competition. The #allLEGOS are all fourth graders at Collier, and they qualified for state in their first year of competing. The Gifters are teaming up with the #allLEGOS and giving them advice for the state competition, including what it looks like and what to expect.
Going to state is a great thing for both of the teams, because it proves how well the teams work with their teammates and the strength of their sportsmanship toward other teams, which are core values for First Lego League. Both teams also demonstrated their understanding of design and programming for the robot.
Energy Award Announcement
Southwest Public Service (SRP) recognized Littleton ESD for our innovative effort to conserve energy. Champion of Energy Efficiency Awards recognizes SRP business customers who demonstrated outstanding initiative in energy efficiency. SRP recognized the 2017 award recipients at their 4th Annual Champions of Energy Efficiency Awards Luncheon. SRP based the nominations on gross annual energy savings through participation in SRP's commercial rebate programs last year. The company chose its winners based on their outstanding efforts to implement new technologies, institute behavioral change, and support ongoing initiatives for energy efficiency within their organizations.
Here at Littleton Elementary School District, we control all of the air conditioning and heating to operate only when the spaces are occupied. We control over 90% of the lighting district wide with occupancy sensors of time clocks, all hot water heaters have time clocks, and we have exhaust fans in restrooms with motion sensors. We have changed over 90% of all exterior lighting to LED light fixtures, and we control the light fixtures with photo sensors and/or time clocks. In August of 2016, SRP and Littleton Elementary School District worked together at two of our school sites with the School of Energy Program with great success. We have also started recycling programs at several of our schools to cut back on the amount of trash that goes in our landfills.
We invite you to view our award video.
We are still looking for parents to help get our PTA up and running. The PTA is integral in supporting our students and teachers in all aspects of their daily educational lives. If you have any questions, give us a call!

Please consider donating to the Littleton Elementary District schools. Simply download, print, and return a tax credit form to the district office or any one of our schools today.
